I've been sending my children to the Southwest Louisiana Art Camp for the past few years. It's a fantasic art program that promotes creativity in children from a very young age to their pre-teen years. I feel lucky to be able to afford to send my children.

So, that got me thinking; I wonder how many kids would love to experience this great program, but for whatever reason, cannot attend? Well, I want to help send a few of them to Art Camp and here's how I'm going to do it...and I need your help.

I love to sketch & draw, mostly as a hobby, but more importantly it's an activity that I share with my children. I spend anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours during most of our drawing sesssions. My sketches turn out decent, from time to time. I want to put those decent sketches up for bid, on Twitter, to help raise money for Art Camp scholarships.

How I'll Do It

• When a sketch/drawing is up for bid I'll post an image and specs on this site, letting you know about it on Twitter. I will I.D. the sketches/drawings that are for bid on Twitter by adding the hashtag #PBArtAuction to the tweets.

• If you're interested in bidding on a particular drawing/sketch then just DM (direct message) me with the title of the piece, your bid and the hashtag #PBArtBid.

• I'll keep the auctions open for 5 days. Once bidding on a sketch is closed I'll send out a tweet with the name of the winner, the final bid amount and the hashtag #PBArtSold.

• Everytime I raise enough money to send a child to the Southwest Louisiana Art Camp program, I'll let you know about it on this site and on Twitter. You get an affordable piece of art, and we all the get the satification of knowing we've helped move a child in a creative direction.
  

What It Means To Me

I want to put my art to work. It's that simple. For so long I've been content to simply draw as a hobby. I finish my sketchbooks, close them, then put them on a shelf...but they could be doing so much more.

I think we'd all like to leave a small mark on the world when we leave it and I hope that my love of sketching and drawing can do that with this simple idea. Buy purchasing my sketches & drawings you'll be helping to pass the creative torch to kids who otherwise may not have had a chance to explore their artistic side.
