Capturing Story & Emotion With Striking Images.

I love great presentations. I'm always fascinated at the different styles, but what really peaks my interest is how each presenter uses images to lead through their message. The ones that really work well with me use simple, strong images to make a direct, but often deeply complex, point. The talk by David Griffin (National Geographic) really addresses the importance of strong images/photography. I really appreciated what he had to say and I hope you will too.

Creative Editing! Battle of the Batmans.

I'm a huge fan of the Keaton Batman and an even bigger fan of the Bale Batman films. But the folks at Black20.com have put their editing genius to work, weaving a completely new Batman tale, utilizing the video elements from all of the Batman films. If you've seen all them, and have ever had to edit any type of video yourself, then you'll appreciate the massive amount of thinking and hours they put into this video short. Enjoy!

THEY LIVE! Exposing Advertising's Underbelly.

Long before I got into advertising, master of horror, John Carpenter, came out with a low budge movie called "THEY LIVE!" I must admit that I actually liked it at the time. I won't tell you about the film, but I'd like to share a key moment from it with you. It stuck with me for a long time, planted a small "what if" seed in my young brain. Heck, it's why I hate advertising, why I'm a hard sell,...and why I think that to be a good marketer you have to be able to see through the smoke yourself.

The Legion of Fonts! When Super-Fonts go wrong.

Ahhh...the Legion of Doom. Boy did I love the Super-Friends when I was a kid. Well, as much I loved 'em, I don't get to spend as much time with them as I used to. Now, I spend more time with my customers, computers, graphics software and fonts. Understanding all that, you'll see why I really got a kick out of this creative skit.

When Sketches Come To Life!

What a little gem this is! If you love upper level creativity (and want to be jealous of it), then I suggest you take a look at this video. It took a little over a year to create and involved only chalk, video and the collective minds of the creative team. Prepare to go "WOW!"

So What?

To many "blah, blahs" in the newspapers. Billboards that try to tell you 15 things in under 4 seconds. Lengthy explanations on why you should buy this or that thing. Ever feel like it's all too much? Is anybody's message being heard? This clip addresses the bane of the marketing communicator; TO MANY MESSAGES! The answer is SIMPLE.
